Year 9 (English / Maths / Science / Computing)

Year 9 Courses

Our Year 9 courses build strong subject foundations and prepare students confidently for GCSE study. We offer Mathematics, English, Science and Computing, with lessons tailored to each student’s current ability, school curriculum and examination board.

Each subject includes 40 live online sessions of two hours, providing 80 hours of structured teaching throughout the academic year. Classes are limited to a maximum of six students, allowing teachers to offer personalised guidance, monitor progress and address individual learning needs.

Lessons are not normally conducted during school half-term or summer holidays. However, the complete programme of 40 two-hour sessions per subject will be delivered during the academic year.

Year 9 English

Our Year 9 English programme strengthens students’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills while preparing them confidently for GCSE English Language and Literature. Lessons are tailored to each student’s current ability, school curriculum and examination board.

Students develop comprehension, creative and persuasive writing, grammar, vocabulary and critical analysis. They also learn how to interpret literary texts, structure effective responses and support their ideas with evidence.

Year 9 Mathematics

Our Year 9 Mathematics programme builds strong mathematical foundations and prepares students confidently for GCSE study. Lessons are tailored to the student’s current ability, school curriculum and examination board.

Students develop their understanding of number, algebra, geometry, ratio, proportion, statistics and problem-solving. Regular assessments identify learning gaps and monitor progress, while individual support helps each student improve their confidence and performance.

Our Year 9 Science programme develops strong foundations in Biology, Chemistry and Physics while preparing students confidently for GCSE Combined or Separate Sciences. Lessons are tailored to each student’s current ability, school curriculum and examination board.

Students strengthen their scientific knowledge, practical understanding, mathematical skills and ability to interpret data. They also learn how to apply scientific concepts, evaluate evidence and answer examination-style questions effectively.

Students learn computational thinking, programming, algorithms, data representation, computer systems, networks, cybersecurity and the ethical use of technology. They also develop practical coding and problem-solving skills through structured activities and projects.
